Hall Reservations

The Jefferson Literary and Debating Society authorizes all activities and events that take place in Hotel C on the West Range of the Academical Village at the University of Virginia, known as Jefferson Hall. The Hall is a historical building at the center of U.Va’s grounds, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the original buildings designed by Thomas Jefferson. It contains portraits of Mr. Jefferson, James Madison, and James Monroe, as well as photos of Edgar Allen Poe and Woodrow Wilson, both members and officers of the Jefferson Society during their time at UVa. The history, location, and architecture of the Hall make it an ideal location for meetings, presentations, and events.

A reservation can be requested online or via e-mail, and must be approved by the Room 7 Resident of the Jefferson Literary and Debating Society (the Jefferson Society). All organizations and individuals reserving the Hall must agree to uphold the Hall Use Terms and Conditions, and pay both a reservation fee according to the time and extent of their event and a security deposit to guarantee the terms of the agreement. The fee schedule is as follows:

Alumni Members of the Society: $10/Hour for the first three hours, $15/hour thereafter
CIOs or Departments: $15/Hour for the first three hours, $20/hour thereafter
Other: $20/Hour for the first three hours, $25/hour thereafter

The fee and a signed copy of this form must be returned to the Room 7 Resident no later than 7 days before the event. By signing and submitting a security deposit, the reserving organization or individual agrees to uphold the terms of this agreement.
